LOCATION: Namibgrens Rest Camp is situated 170km south west of Windhoek on the road via Spreetshoogte Pass to Sossusvlei and the coast. The road D1275 is easily accessible by 2X4 vehicles from an easterly and westerly direction. A 900m airstrip for light aircraft's is also available. Co-ordinates, (south 23°, 35° and east 16°, 16°). Fuel is available in close proximity to the Rest Camp.

LANDSCAPE AND SURROUNDINGS: The farm Namibgrens runs in the Rabie family since 1940. The old spacious farmhouse has been renovated and turned into a relaxed haven for tourists surrounded by a lovely garden. We have no swimming pool, but the four earth dams around the farmhouse more than compensates. Besides our summer temperatures are not very high, 10°C lower than the Namib Desert, due to the high altitude (1760m above sea level).

The farmhouse with a lovely garden and surrounding earth dams, provide the opportunity for bird watchers to explore the mysteries and grace of the wide variety found in the area during the summer and winter season. Pelicans, Flamingos and Black Eagles are occasionally spotted. Namibgrens Rest Camp is situated on the escarpment that provides ever-lasting views over the Namib Desert. Different scenes from different angles are possible by either driving on the main road, guided farm tours or by hiking trails.

The rocky and ever changing landscape with its rich fauna and flora allows the hiker to explore nature on the challenging and picturesque dassie hiking trails that vary from 2 hours to 3 day hikes. They provide breathtaking scenes over the Namib Desert and the farm itself and not to mention Klipspringer, Mountain Zebra, Kudu, Dassies, Baboons and Steenbok that can be seen on the trails.

(various options), guided farm tours and game drives to explore nature, the scenery and the spotting of some Eland, Oryx, Kudu, Mountain Zebra, Hartebees, Blesbok, Klipspringer, Duiker, Steenbok and Dassies, self-guided 4X4 trails, sunset drives and friendly and caring hosts.
